This is for the Southern Rock die-hard fans! For those who always have enjoyed Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Point Blank first albums, those who enjoy the heavy and powerful way of these bands. For those who think that Lynyrd and Molly hatchet have betrayed and who don't have enough tears to cry the Allman death.

There's a hope… The freshmen… Blackberry Smoke! They are not really young, this Atlanta band is fourteen years old, long hair, great beards and very kind out of stage.

They already have issued many studio albums, last one being the remarkable Whippoorwill in 2012.

They live on stage in the deep South and also in Europe. They came in Paris last spring and in September.

This double live, sold with a DVD and different color LP versions, has been recorded in North Carolina. Hi title, Leave a Scar, perfectly describes the project.

Front man is Charlie Starr, with the Turner brothers on bass and drums, the wonderful Brando Still on keyboards and the discreet but efficient Paul Jackson on guitar.

This band knows how to write songs that we can remember such as "Six Ways to Sunday", really good, or "Testify" where Charlie's voice looks like Springsteen.

No "guitar army" in this band, that's what some people regret, and the songs are short. No time to rest between the songs. And that one "Ain't got the Blues" that begins on an acoustic guitar, the top of the show where Charlie's vocal qualities are obvious and where can be heard the nice Brandon work on keyboards. This quiet moment is followed by "Lucky Seven".

The end of the first CD is great, "Up in Smoke" sung by the audience, "Crimson Moon" and the famous "Whippoorwill".

The wonderful piano intro on "Everybody knows she's mine" opens the second CD and, as many Southern Rock bands, Blackberry Smoke is perfect in the mid-tempos that allows to the singer to show his qualities, and to the guitar players to send great choruses, with the help of Mr. Brandon Still. "One Horse Town" is in that way, it's simply beautiful! And "Lesson in a Bottle" is in the same way.

Back to deep South with "Ain't much left of me", a seven minute long title that is the band masterpiece on stage. "Leave a Scar" arrives next, just before "Sleeping Dogs" close to "Midnight Rider".

And we got "Payback's a Bitch", "Up the Road" and "Shake your Magnolia" to end that great show where we can again enjoy Charlie's voice, Brandon's piano and Paul's guitar. And the brothers really do a great job!

So, you can throw away all the Lynyrd Skynyrd or Molly Hatchet issued in the last ten years, Blackberry Smoke is the real new Southern band!
